Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from now until 30 June 2017, The Carvery @ Park Hotel Alexandra will fire up its brand new Argentinian Grill, specially commissioned for the promotion. This grill boasts an adjustable platform that allows the chefs better control and regulation of heat during cooking, in order to achieve an impeccable char.
Patrons can look forward to savouring premium roasts and dishes such as Hickory Pulled Pork, Argentinian Ribeye, Australian Lamb Shoulder; and finishing off with delectable desserts like Cinnamon and Vanilla Roasted Pineapple, Spiced Apple Crumble, and English Trifle.
Executive Chef Robert deliberately chose the bone-in pork leg to best preserve its flavour and moisture during the long cooking process. This results in amazing juiciness and fork-tenderness of the meat, which pulls apart effortlessly. Chef Robert then slathers the pulled pork in a house-made hickory barbecue sauce and stuffs them into gleaming fried buns before topping them off with his homemade apple slaw. The complementary flavours of every ingredient in this Hickory Pulled Pork dish made it a clear winner, and there was no way I could stop at one.
A close second is the Argentinian Ribeye. Seasoned with salt and pepper, this beautiful cut of Argentinian beef is first roasted in the wood-fired oven, followed by skilful searing on the wood-fired grill to elevate its natural flavours with a touch of smokiness. Perfectly medium-rare and well marbled, the beef delighted my taste buds. For added decadence, pair it with onion and kale or black pepper sauce.
The butterflied Honey Lemon Chicken was less than stellar in comparison to the other meats offered. Each chicken is cut open and glazed with honey and lemon slices, as it lays flat on the grill. While the meat is succulent, its taste was too subtle for me to appreciate amidst the other robust flavours. I would recommend eating it together with the hearty Bean Stew, The Carvery’s own rendition of baked beans. Here, Borlotti beans are soaked and softened overnight before being sautéed with aromatic herbs, onions, and garlic. After which, they are braised with chicken stock, tomatoes and house-made hickory sauce, and stewed over the wood-fired grill for a delicious gravy. To wash it all down, relish in beers such as Asahi Super Dry Draft, Magners Irish Ciders, Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc and more at only S$5++ per bottle.
For desserts, indulge in the unique combination of Cinnamon and Vanilla Roasted Pineapples. Slices of honey pineapples are delicately grilled over smouldering wood embers, then sprinkled with cinnamon and vanilla sugar. Other desserts available include a comforting Spiced Apple Crumble (generous wedges of Granny Smith apples dredged in cinnamon and topped with knobbly sandy crumble) as well as a gloriously classic English Trifle (layers of thick custard, Kirsch soaked sponge cake, fresh fruits and berries).
The promotion is affordably priced at $52++ for lunch and $62++ for dinner (served with a glass of Asahi beer; only for dinner) for adults; $32++ for lunch/dinner for kids. If you are a meat lover, “Hearth & Heat” at Park Hotel Alexandra will definitely be a heaven for you that is worth every single cent.
