PUTIEN launches Madam Leng Mooncakes, but why Madam Leng? Due to popular demand since last year, the tribute to the longest-serving employee is once again, brought back. And no prizes for guessing it right, this employee is none other than Madam Leng Ah Eng. Interestingly, Madam Leng’s creations were originally only for her colleagues and regular patrons over the past 14 years. But this year, 200 boxes are made available in each outlet, and will be on sale until 8 September 2014, while stocks last.
Madam Leng Mooncakes are made without preservatives / additives, and are only made with the best ingredients. Consequently, the mooncakes are best to be savoured within 3 days of purchasing. Purple Sweet Potato Mooncakes comes in boxes of 4, and costs $48 without yolk and $55 with single yolk. These Japanese purple sweet potato filling promises a smooth and buttery consistency.
The other flavour offered by Madam Leng is her Yam Mooncakes, similarly in boxes of 4, costs $45 without yolk and $52 with single yolk. The yam used in these layers of dough is specially imported from Thailand so as to tap on its fluffiness and fragrance.
Orders are only validated upon payment. So make your way down to any of the outlets soon, though enquiries can be made over the phone (any outlet). These mooncakes are worth paying for. The fillings are both rich enough that no, the crispy crust did not manage to take the main stage. Assorted boxes can be purchased according to what you want too (eg. 3 Yam, 1 Sweet Potato).
