Sitting in the basement of Suntec City’s newly renovated dining circle around the Fountain of Wealth is BreadTalk Café. The casual café serves an all-day affordable dining menu of western as well as unique novel creations infused with Asian and local flavours. Not in the mood for a heavy lunch? Pop by over to the bakery section of the café for your usual suspects of BreadTalk’s signature bread and pastries as well as those that are only exclusive to the café.
The café offers a great view of the fountain with its very inviting brightly lit interior, credits to the ceiling to floor glass walls. Very ideal for a cosy place to hang out with some friends for a meal or drink, while idly watching keen tourists wandering at the fountain.
Strawberry Spice Tea ($6.80) :: A great refreshing glass of drink to go with your meal. Strawberry and mojito mint flavours blended with black tea perfumed with star anise and cinnamon stick. It seems to be a little pricey but it is easy to forgive as I could taste strawberry bits with every mouthful!
Portobello Party ($7.90) :: A side dish for mushroom lovers which can double up as an appetiser. Stuffed in the baked Portobello mushrooms are bacon, spinach and melted cheese; tomatoes and rocket leaves as garnish. Personally, I am not a fan of mushroom so the taste of it overwhelms me a little. I paired it with the rocket leaves to lessen the taste a little. But I guess it will be a dish made in heaven for mushroom lovers.
Shrooms Green Curry Pasta ($12.90) :: First of the two Italian dishes I’ve tasted on the menu and it’s also my favourite. The prawns are forgettable, but lending influence from the Thai cuisine, its green curry sauce is spicy and flavoursome. It sure won over the sceptic eater I sometimes can be. You can also find straw and button mushroom in the dish.
Sardinah Pizza ($7.90) :: The other Italian dish of the afternoon. Sardine, hard-boiled egg, cheese sundried tomatoes and spicy mayo. This pizza ranges on the average but I do appreciate the amount of toppings on it. The generous toppings makes a very satisfying bite, making it the kind of pizza you go for when you have a craving.
Brownie Overload ($6.80) :: The moist, warm brownie is served with Movenpick ice cream. Get a spoonful of good mix of both, put it in your mouth, close your eyes and feel the divine mix!
With a seating capacity of 46, I would go back again for the Shrooms Green Curry Pasta as late lunch to avoid the office lunch. If you can’t get enough of the food here, a second outlet is opening at Westgate Mall located at Jurong East this coming December, so hold on tight!
